abonn The whole album is a perfectly beautiful homage to The Labyrinth. The story and music is delightful, and it evokes a happy sadness that keeps me coming back to listen again and again. Favorite track: Little White Lies.

preciousken The 20 song release is clean like twilight in a fantasy world briming with the mystery of a firefly forest and the pageantry of a catholic funeral. Voltaire’s iconic is the ringleader that ties together the spectacle. A 20 track journey with one of the great bards of our time. Let goth music be fun. Let it be the giant melting black candle musical theater it was always meant to be. I both teared up and laughed out loud listening to it. You need this album. Favorite track: Someone Like You.

David Oberlin Posing as a concept album, Voltaires' wit and whimsy return in abundance on this pseudo-sequel to Jim Hensons' Labyrinth. With respect to and featuring many artists some involved with the original Goblin King himself-- David Bowie. Where The Black Labyrinth is a fun romp imagining what could be through the art of neo-folk inspired rock music.

nano4life When songs from this album were being released I didn't really like them at first. I personally didn't like the album 'what are the oddz' but enjoy almost all of Voltaires work. While playing AQW's 14th birthday event I heard the song 'Safe in your love' and 'Kill the beast' and started falling in love. This album is truly a masterpiece and I am glad I was able to watch Voltaire sing 'The King of Villains' live because it really let me experience the passion that is put in all that he creates <3 Favorite track: Friends in the Dark.

about

The Black Labyrinth is Aurelio Voltaire's 13th studio album. This 20-song musical adventure was inspired by the 1986 film in which David Bowie played The Goblin King. This double album was recorded with 15 members of David Bowie's band spanning nearly every era of the Starman's career from the pianist on 1972's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars to the saxophone player on Black Star, Bowie's last album.
The Black Labyrinth was co-produced by Mark Plati who produced the 1997 Bowie album, Earthling as well as the post humus release, Toy.

Other guest musicians included members of My Chemical Romance, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Vision Video, The Cog is Dead, Frenchy and the Punk, violinist extraordinaire Mia Asano, Ally the Piper, D and D songstress Ginny D and an international cadre of musicians making up the orchestra and choir.

A Black Labyrinth illustrated novel will be released in 2023, illustrated by Gothic fantasy artists Abigail Larson, Iren Horrors and DreaD Art.
